We did Leadership Training ministry with the Church of Uganda (Anglican) with an Arch-Deacon's Conference near Kampala at Lweza Conference Center and Lay Leader's Conferences with the Mukono Diocese; and in Rukungiri with the Kinkiizi Diocese (SW Uganda S of Lake Edward), and teaching and crusade ministry at Hoima (W Uganda near Lake Albert). In all, more than 350 ordained or lay leaders participated in the conferences. The team also was involved in school and door-to-door evangelism. The arrangements and itinerary were arranged with the Ugandan Field Director of Africa Christian Training Ministries, Rashid Luzwa.
This was my second trip to Uganda. My first trip included teaching, preaching and door-to-door evangelism at New Life Presbyterian Church in Kajjansi, near Kampala, on March 10th - 17th, 2001, as part of a team led by Dr. Henry Krabbendam. My ministry was well received by those I ministered to - and many have encouraged me to return - teaching is much needed by the Ugandan churches. Pastor Mayanja Francis, for example, has a substantial mission church congregation and he hasn't even completed his theological education. They are also building a school. I was able to visit and preach at Kajjansi during my second trip as well and fellowship with Pastor Francis, his wife and their new baby boy.
Though I support my family working in a grocery store, I am the Assistant Pastor of Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church (P.C.A.) in Lake Stevens, Wa. - a teaching, preaching and storytelling ministry I have been involved in for over twenty years. I am also the Chairman of the Pacific Northwest Presbytery's Mission to the World Committee. My daughter, Sarah, is a missionary in Kaposvár, Hungary with International Messengers. We recently celebrated her marriage to a fine Hungarian Christian.
