- Eldrbarry's page on the game of Mankala and Omweso The national game of Uganda - a variant of the ancient African game of Mankala played on a board with 4x8 holes and 64 seeds. This family of sowing or count and capture games are played around the world. The best known games of this family in the Western world are Oware, Kalah, Omweso, and Bao. Mancala games play a role in many African and some Asian societies comparable to that of chess in the West. Mancala has become a popular game for computer programming.
