We did ministry in Kinkiizi Diocese in Kanungu on May 4th - 8th, 2005. There were leadership and Youth Conferences as well as several big events commemorating the 10 year anniversary of the Diocese' formation: the Batwa Rally, a confirmation service on Mt. Kirezi to which the youth in their purple robes walked several miles, and a big outdoor worship on Sunday morning which was interrupted for 45 minutes by a tropical downpour. We also did other minsitry as well, preaching at prayer services on Mt Kirezi, following up on materials send by UPres to Kinkiizi High School in 2003, etc. I also have some Reflections and a Report on our 2005 Mission Trip

Here are pictures from a prayer service on Mt. Kirezi, thunderstorms in the distance. I preached on Elijah on Mt. Horeb; Randy gave a personal testimony of God in the winds, Titus preached on Seeing Clearly. Then we had a lengthy time of prayer and singing.

These are pictures from the Confirmation Service on Mt. Kirezi on a beautiful Saturday. You could see out across the Rift to Lake Edward and Zaire. There were a couple of thousand people who had mostly walked up the mountain for the celebration. A couple of hundred youth took their vows and danced in celebration before the Bishop accompanied by the Bishop's Band. Bishop Nathan from Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese (Hoima) and John Pickett were among the speakers.

On Sunday several thousand gathered for Worship, outdoors because of the size of the crowd. Many are not visible in the photographs were in two large pavillions on either side. The shelters were put to the test when about two hours into the ceremonies a tropical deluge sent many scrabbling for the Cathedral building, while the rest of us coped with tarps overhead filling with water. The Bishop's band in true African fashion kept right on playing. Along with Bishop Nathan, and us - Dignitaries present included the Minister of Defense of Uganda, and Parlimentarian Hamlet from Kampala. The service came to an end abruptly as another downpour descended. The Service lasted about five hours total.
