Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (Jan. 12, 2007) - Sailors man the rails for the final time aboard a salvage ship USS Salvor (ARS 52) during the decommissioning. Salvor was later recommissioned as USNS Salvor and transferred to the Military Sealift Command (MSC). Salvor, originally commissioned June 14, 1986, was designed for salvage of stranded vessels, rescue and assistance, recovery of submerged objects and manned diving operations. Most recently Salvor returned from a scheduled five-month deployment to Southeast Asia in support of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Exercise 2006.
