Strait of Madura, Indonesia (July 15, 2006) Ð The rescue and salvage ship USS Salvor (ARS 52) at anchor off the coast of Indonesia to conduct familiarization dives with Indonesian Navy divers. U.S. Navy and Indonesian Navy divers are conducting familiarization dives to give Indonesian divers an opportunity to see how U.S. divers conduct operations. Salvor is currently participating in the third phase of exercise Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT). CARAT is an annual series of bilateral maritime training exercises between the United States and six Southeast Asia nations designed to build relationships and enhance the operational readiness of the participating forces.
