Paul McWilliams is an experienced technical writer at IBM in their San Jose, Ca.'s Silicon Valley Lab. Paul writes technical documenation for DB2 for z/OS, a mainframe-based relational database engine. It was first designed and released in the early 1980s. He has been writing about DB2 for about ten years. Paul grew up in Everett, Wa. After several years serving in the U. S. Navy, and studies at Everett Community College, he got his Bachelor of Science in Technical Communication which he received with honors cum laude from University of Washington. Paul McWilliams is married to Brianne O'Fallon of San Jose and they live in Morgan Hill, Ca. Brianne received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Samuel Merritt University in the Spring of 2009. Their daughter, Victoria Marie, was born July 3rd. 2012 in San Jose, CA. and is well travelled, taking frequent trips with her parents. Her sister, Elizabeth Grace, was born on February 17th, 2015. Paul and Brianne also enjoy two cats, hiking many trails around the Bay Area, visiting local parks, and the area's "Jazz scene". Paul enjoys taking pictures of their outings, and has blogged some of them. Paul enjoys biking and birding in the region as well. They attend Grace Presbyterian Church (P.C.A.), a multi-site church with congregations in San Jose and Palo Alto. After graduating from Everett High School, Everett, Wa., Paul had served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Salvor (ARS-52), a "high tech" US Navy salvage ship. stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hi. He spent the first part of his tour as a deck seaman, but soon became a quartermaster, specializing in navigation. Voyages ranged from Panama to Alaska, and to the Far East. His Naval Reserve duties included time with units such as Commander Naval Surface Group Pacific and Afloat Training Group Pacific in Everett, Wa. and spent more than one year with Harbor Defense Command Unit #113, in Seattle, Wa. Before attending The University of Washington, he worked for several years part-time as a messenger driving around Puget Sound for ABC Legal Services while taking classes at Everett Community College. He graduated from Everett Community College with High Honors in early 2001. After the 9/11 attacks, Paul's studies were interrupted when he was moblized for one year of active duty at Naval Station Everett, Wa., where he served as leading petty officer for the security detachment harbor patrol team.
